This is a brilliant video. I love the concept of taking those disturbing animated gifs that loop two or three frames from slightly different perspectives, and using it as the basis of terrible nightmare vision. If only we could take all the raw meme materials from the internet and make things so moving and artful…

Wes Anderson´s Fantastic Mr. Fox Soundtrack Revealed

yewknee:

twentyfourbit:

If Wes Anderson was hoping for a lot of hype today surrounding the unveiling of the soundtrack to his upcoming stop motion animated film Fantastic Mr. Fox, the New Moon tracklist announcement probably didn’t help.

In his soundtrack (via Flavorwire), Anderson combines a few predictable choices (Rolling Stones, Beach Boys) with some lesser-known artists (Georges Delerue, Nancy Adams) and a Jarvis Cocker-penned theme song to make for a pretty interesting playlist. And just when you thought you were winning, Chris Weitz, Anderson takes your Bon Iver contribution and raises you three Burl Ives tracks.

Check out the full list below (*Music Composed, Conducted, and Produced by Alexandre Desplat):

1. “American Empirical Pictures”*
2. “The Ballad of Davy Crockett” - The Wellingtons
3. “Mr. Fox in the Fields”*
4. “Heroes and Villains” - The Beach Boys
5. “Fooba Wooba John” - Burl Ives
6. “Boggis, Bunce, and Bean”*
7. “Jimmy Squirrel and Co.”*
8. “Love” - Nancy Adams
9. “Buckeye Jim” - Burl Ives
10. “High-Speed French Train”*
11. “Whack-Bat Majorette”*
12. “The Grey Goose” - Burl Ives
13. “Bean’s Secret Cider Cellar”*
14. “Une Petite Île” - Georges Delerue
15. “Street Fighting Man” - The Rolling Stones
16. “Fantastic Mr. Fox, AKA Petey’s Song” - Jarvis Cocker
17. “Night and Day” - Art Tatum
18. “Kristofferson’s Theme”*
19. “Just Another Dead Rat in a Garbage Pail (behind a Chinese Restaurant)”*
20. “Le Grand Choral” - Georges Delerue
21. “Great Harrowsford Square”*
22. “Stunt Expo 2004″*
23. “Canis Lupus”*

“the thing that i thought was great about Pavement was that they were a bunch of dudes that hardly knew what they were doing, would take the stage stoned out of their gords or drunk as hell and sometimes be a complete fucking train wreck one time and the next time be the best band on earth. they had this shoddy charm of being held together by weed and bubblegum and through the show you kind of rooted them on hoping they would pull a rabbit out of their hat. sometimes they would and sometimes they wouldn’t. i can’t imagine that charm existing in a polished one off nostalgia tour.”

A Bloody Mess

well said, sir.

Jean-Pierre Jeunet (director of “Amelie” and “A Very Long Engagement”) just premiered his new film “Micmacs” at the Toronto Film Festival. Of course, we have an opinion about it.

Tom Waits Terrifies in Doctor Parnassus Trailer

Over a year ago, we reported that none other than Tom Waits would play the Devil (“not a devil…The Devil”) in Terry Gilliam’s forthcoming film The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. As Videogum points out, the trailer for that film has debuted online. And oh man, does Waits look terrifying. Actually, the whole movie looks terrifying:

butseriously: i’m not a huge terry gilliam fan, but if anything, this movie will be a visual treat.

The Mighty Boosh recently invaded NYC (finally) and we were lucky enough to snag some time with founders Julian Barratt and Noel Fielding. It’s everything you wanted to know, plus a few things you didn’t. Read it all here.
